I'm Wendy Buckingham and I've had over 20 years experience as a life coach, working with people from all walks of life, and with all sorts of issues. I created this website because I felt there was a need for some independent information on creating a life coaching career, one that wasn't attached to a school or an association. You'll find it's full of useful information and tips to help new and aspiring coaches on a journey towards this rewarding and exciting career. Some of the things you'll learn about will be where to get the best training and certification; in fact, I have a page on the questions to ask before you enroll in anything. And before I go any further, I actually do think it's important that, even if you bring a load of other qualifications to coaching, to have some coach specific training, even if it's just a brief course that lets you know what coaching is about and how it is different from other forms of the healing profession. It can be a bit lonely and challenging when you first want to be a coach. So one of the things I would recommend is you join a coaching association. You'll find a list of these on the site and some of them even offer regular chapter meetings, both in person and online. So you get to meet other coaches in your field and make some great connections. It's one thing to become a good coach, it's quite another to build a successful coaching business. Another section is on life coaching websites. And here, I need to make the point that it's really easy to get taken in by websites that offer you the earth and cost little. Or by a designer who will create something for you. That's really pretty, but does absolutely nothing in the way of engaging or attracting your clients. So on life coaching websites I give you loads of tips and hints both on the content of your website and what you need to do to make it easier to get around and have content to engage your prospective clients and make them go, wow, this is somebody that I'm really a good fit with and I'd really like to work with.
